Let’s go to the NYU area and have dinner at Old Tbilisi Garden (174 Bleecker St) and listen to some blues at Terra Blues (149 Bleecker St., 2nd fl). You can get here by taking the A,B,C,D,E,F,M to W 4th St.
Old Tbilisi Garden has really fantastic Georgian food. It’s also perfect for those cold nights in between spring and winter. You should start off with the Adjaruli Khachapuri, which is essentially just a giant bread boat filled with cheese and an egg. For your entree I would definitely recommend one of the stews and the lamb chops. The lamb chops are perfectly grilled and extremely tender. Georgian wine is also quite good and they have a reasonable selection on their menu. I wasn’t super impressed since I’m not a fan of mineral water but they also have the famed Georgian Borjomi water.
After dinner, walk around the corner, dodging all the NYU students, to get to Terra Blues. This place is very small but the blues played here is wonderful. There’s a $10 cover and they only take reservations before 9pm (after that, seating is on a first come first served basis). They have a great scotch and bourbon collection, as all Blues clubs should. Sit back, relax, and just listen.
